My body a construction site - the intestine
In our last lecture we talked about the fact that insecurity with our body can mean a deep cut in the quality of life. We feel like a construction site, no matter if we are in pain or if digestion is a problem.
What can you do for your digestion:
First you should clarify medically whether everything is in order. These examinations can be extensive, but here should be clarified in any case.
Sport
Sport helps to get a blocked digestion going again. Roughly speaking, there are three reasons for this:
Exercise alone mechanically stimulates the bowel's own movement. This happens, for example, with strength training.
Metabolism is stimulated and the digestive process is also accelerated.
Your central nervous system works better when you train in a way that suits you, because on the one hand you become more active, but on the other hand you can also relax better.
(For the sake of completeness: It can also be an indication of too much training if something is wrong with your digestion.
Drinking
Make sure you drink half a litre of water every 3 hours. These intervals will ensure that you don't fill up at the end of the day.
On the one hand, this does nothing, and on the other hand, it can disturb your sleep later.
Nutrition
Food intolerances are almost a buzz word. It feels like each of us knows at least one person who is affected, and food invitations can be challenging (after lockdown, of course).
Fact is, more intolerances are being diagnosed than 30 years ago due to greater awareness.
What can be done? In addition to the medical workup mentioned above, keeping a food diary (temporarily) can help you gain knowledge about your body and identify patterns. Especially if a medical finding is unremarkable and you feel that digestion could be going better.
Detox?
Skepticism is in order with products of all kinds, which one can acquire for quite a lot of money. Whether it's detoxes, that's what we have a liver for, or juice cures, you can usually read something like this: "These are not drug effective amounts/substances. However, the plant extracts contain substances that are traditionally said to have different stimulating and supporting effects."
And mostly you buy expensive urine with it.
